Larson wins two events as Ole women finish third

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Dani Larson won the 400 meter hurdles and the high jump, leading the St. Olaf women's track and field team to a third place finish at the MIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the University of St. Thomas on Saturday.
Larson crossed the finish line in 63.05 seconds in the 400m hurdles finals. Larson broke her own school record in the event on Friday's competition with a time of 62.78. Her time currently ranks her eighth in national standings.
In the high jump, she won the event by clearing 1.65 meters. Larson is the school record holder in the outdoor high jump at 1.69m which she jumped earlier this season. The height ranks her tenth in the nation.
Larson's success continued with a fifth place finish in the 100 meter hurdles (15.41).
In addition to Larson's high jump win, Anna Govig and Elise Raney finished with scoring positions in the event. Govig cleared a height of 1.62m coming in third. Raney tied for sixth at 1.54m.
The 5K race contained three Oles in the top five finishers. After winning the 10K in the first day of competition, Emma Lee returned to finish second in the 5K with a time of 18:09.65. She was followed by teammate Rebecca Bevans (18:15.54) in third, and Jorden Johnson (18:21.30) in fourth.
Moriah Novacinski took fourth in the 800m final, clocking a 2:20.57. Novacinski finished sixth in the 1500m (4:54.81).
The women's 4x400m relay with Tara Reyelts, Novacinski, Madison VanWylen, and Larson placed sixth (4:05.59).
Reylets finished seventh in the 400m with a time of 62.38.
The Oles finished with 104 points, less than ten points behind second place Concordia Moorhead. The Oles placed second at the Indoor MIAC Championships the best mark since 1997. Third place is the best MIAC Outdoor Championship finish for the Oles since 1999.
