ST. PAUL, Minn. - The MIAC men's golf coaches named Charlie Johnson of St. Olaf the league's Freshman of the Year on Monday.

Johnson averaged an even 79.0 strokes/round while competing in eight tournaments. He was even better during a challenging spring with a 76.0 average per 18 holes. The rookie finished in the top 20 three times in 2012-13, and recorded a season-best score of 73 at the Culver's Edgewood Fall Classic. Johnson helped the Oles finish second once, with three top-five team finishes and three more in the top seven. St. Olaf came in seventh at the MIAC Championships in 2012-13 with Johnson in the lineup.
