Cook steps away as alpine coach
May 23, 2013
NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Kevin Cook, who served as director of skiing at St. Olaf since 2006, stepped away to pursue other opportunities.
Cook's alpine teams routinely finished near the top of the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association Championship standings. This season, the St. Olaf women finished third in the USCSA Championships on the heels of third place finishes in the slalom and giant slalom, which is believed to be the best in school history. In 2011-12, the St. Olaf men were third overall as well, finishing second in the giant slalom and third in the slalom at the USCSA's.
A 1996 graduate of St. Olaf, Cook was also the school's intramural and club sports director.
"We are grateful for Kevin's work in our department in his time at St. Olaf" said athletic director Matt McDonald. "He has been a valuable member of our staff and we will miss working with him."
A search for Cook's replacement is underway.
