Volleyball wins twice to open 2013

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - St. Olaf swept non-conference volleyball matches from Bethany Lutheran College and Crown College on Friday afternoon at Skoglund Center to open the 2013 season.

Kelly Heissel and Maggie Prunty had 12 kills each as the Oles collected a 25-16, 25-17, 25-19 sweep of the visiting Vikings. Kersten Bork had 38 set assists while Prunty added a team-best nine digs.

The Vikings were led by Amanna Berthusen's nine kills.

St. Olaf def. Crown 3-0
St. Olaf jumped to big leads in each of the first two sets and cruised to a 25-8, 25-8 and 25-18 sweep of Crown. Heissel had 13 and Prunty 12 kills for the Oles.

Megan Bauer added 11 digs in the victory for St. Olaf, which plays Martin Luther College and Waldorf College on Saturday at Carleton College.
