August 31, 2013
JANESVILLE, Wis. - Ryan Heide fired a final-round 71 (E) to finish second overall and lead St. Olaf to a third place team finish in the 12-team Culver's Edgewood College Fall Classic on Saturday at Glen Erin Golf Club.
Heide's two-day 141 (-1) is the best two-day tournament for any St. Olaf player in at least 10 seasons and is believed to be a school record.
The Oles' Charlie Johnson also pulled in a 71 on Saturday to finish four-over par for the tournament, alone in fourth place. Chris Winge was the Oles' next-best, finishing 30th with a two-day 156 (76-80, +14).
The Oles were eight strokes behind co-champions University of Dubuque and Viterbo University.
St. Olaf competes next weekend at the Midwest Region Collegiate Classic in Wisconsin Dells, Wis.
