ST. PAUL, Minn. - St. Olaf senior Ryan Heide was named the MIAC men's golf athlete of the week on Wednesday after posting a 1-under 141 to finish second at the Culver's Fall Classic last weekend.

Heide's 141 is the best two-day score of any St. Olaf player in at least 10 seasons, and is believed to be a school record.

He was just one shot behind Dubuque's Mitchell Sobotta, who was two-under to earn medalist honors, and Heide was four shots better than the third-place finisher in the 85-player field. He led the Oles to a third-place team finish with a total score of 606, as they were eight shots behind co-champs Dubuque and Viterbo.

St. Olaf and its star senior hope to continue their hot start this weekend in a three-day, 54-hole tournament Sept. 7-9. The Oles return to Wisconsin for the second-straight to compete in the Midwest Region Collegiate Classic Saturday, Sunday and Monday in Wisconsin Dells, Wis.
