Oles drop a pair to non-conference foes

DECORAH, Iowa-- St. Olaf volleyball was on the losing end of a pair of non-conference contests at Regents Center on Friday night, falling to Coe College and Cornell College in identical 3-0 scores.

Coe College def. St. Olaf 3-0
Coe College used a dominant first set where they hit .545 to ride to a 25-13, 25-22, 25-18 sweep of the Oles.

The Kohawks capitalized on strong performances from Erin Dalke, hitting .545 and Mackenzie Harbaugh, hitting .417.

St. Olaf was led by Kelly Heissel, who notched 11 kills. Maggie Prunty added another eight kills.

Cornell College def. St. Olaf 3-0
The Oles' losing streak extended to six games with a 25-14, 25-19, 25-13 defeat at the hands of Cornell College in Friday night's second game.

The Rams hit .407 as a team and saw four players finish the night hitting over .400 as Cornell trailed only once over the three-set contest.

Kathleen O'Connor (13 kills) and Katie Sickelka (10 kills) led the charge for Cornell.

Kelly Heissel and Molly Nelson each racked up ten kills for the Oles, while Abby Slack paced the St. Olaf defense with ten digs.

St. Olaf (4-6) wraps up its visit to Decorah Saturday afternoon as they are slated to face Colorado College at 12:30 p.m. and Grinnell College at 3:00 p.m. The Oles then kick off MIAC regular season play on Sept. 21 at St. Catherine University.
