Oles fall to Hamline in straight sets

ST. PAUL, Minn. - St. Olaf volleyball was dispatched by Hamline University on Saturday afternoon 25-20, 25-15, 26-24 at Hutton Arena.

Paige Walters led the Pipers offensively collecting 12 kills and hitting .281. Sam Greeny-Hamlin set the high mark for the game in hitting percentage with .320 while adding ten kills of her own.

Greeny-Hamlin is hitting .380 on the season, good for third place in the MIAC.

St. Olaf spread their offense throughout their lineup, with five players factoring in with five or more kills. Taylor Gorder led the Oles in kills and hitting percentage with nine and .286.

After a tight first set fell Hamline's way, St. Olaf ran into error trouble in the second, hitting -.051 in the set with ten errors to only eight kills.

The Oles were a point away from winning the third set and extending the match, leading 24-23 but Hamline rallied for three straight points to win the set and the match.

Moving forward St. Olaf (6-8, 1-1 MIAC) is set to open up three straight games at home when league-leading Augsburg visits on Wednesday. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m. at Skoglund Center.
