Pahl scores 28, but Division II Vikings hold off Oles 83-71

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Justin Pahl had 28 points, going 8-of-13 from the field, but Division II Augustana held off the St. Olaf men's basketball team 83-71 in an exhibition game on Friday night at the Elmen Center.
Daniel Jansen had 21 points and nine rebounds for the Vikings, who used a 14-3 run in the final five minutes of the first half to take a 42-28 lead at the break.
St. Olaf battled back with a run of its own, as Pahl scored the first nine in the second half to get the Oles within six. Augustana responded, holding St. Olaf without a field goal for a six minute stretch in the middle of the half to extend the lead to as many as 17.
Sioux Falls native Sterling Nielsen added 15 points, seven rebounds and three assists for St. Olaf in the loss. Casey Shilling had 16 points for the Vikings.
St. Olaf opens the regular season on Nov. 15 at home against Bethany Lutheran College. Augustana has its final exhibition game on Sunday, when it travels to Ames, Iowa for a battle with Division I Iowa State.
