Ole women open 2013-14 on losing end of shutout

STEVENS POINT, Wis. - UW-Stevens Point dealt the St. Olaf women's hockey team a 4-0 loss in the season opener for both schools on Friday night at Ice Hawks Arena.

The Pointers' Cassandra Salmen accounted on each tally, collecting a goal and three assists. UW-Stevens Point had goals from four different skaters in the win, while collecting 40 shots on net.

St. Olaf had 32 shots on goal, but Pointer netminder Janna Beilke-Skoug had 10 saves in the first, 12 in the second and another 10 in the final period to pick up the shutout win.

St. Olaf was 0-for-7 on the power play, while the Pointers capitalized on three of their six opportunities.

The teams meet tomorrow afternoon in the series finale.
