Blugolds over Ole men in series opener

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - UW-Eau Claire used three second period goals in a 5-2 non-conference men's hockey win over visiting St. Olaf on Friday night.
The host Blugolds (1-0-0) broke a 2-2 tie with two scores in a three-minute stretch of the second period, on scores from David Donnellan and Ross Andersen. Joe Krause assisted on each goal.
St. Olaf had scores from Dan Cecka and Bryan Glynn, each to tie the game. Cecka's came unassisted at 6:54 of the first to make it 1-1 while Glynn was fed by Dylan Porter and Cecka to tie the game at 2-2 with 10:27 left in the second.
UW-Eau Claire then responded with goals from Donnellan and Andersen before an empty net goal by Niko Kapetanovic with 39 second left in regulation sealed the victory.
The teams meet in the series finale tomorrow night at 7 p.m.
