November 15, 2013
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Four Oles scored in double figures as the St. Olaf Women's Basketball team defeated Colorado College 74-59 as they opened the 2013-2014 season.
Sophomore Kim Cerjan paced the Oles scoring a game-high 18 points. Elise Raney, Nikki Frogner, and Emily Wahlberg rounded out the double-digit scorers. St. Olaf (1-0, 0-0 MIAC), who shot 52% (16-for-31) from the field in the first half, used a 10-0 run in the last three minutes of the half to take a 35-27 lead at the break.
The Oles controlled the boards with 44-27 advantage, and also blocked 11 of the Tiger's shots. Raney, who had six blocks, brought her career total to 160, which is 100 more than the next on the list.
The Tigers (0-1) were led by Katie Wirth with 15 points and Courtney Tyus with 14 points.
With the win, the Oles post a 3-1 record while playing in Colorado, dating back to the 2012-2013 season and are 9-1 in their last 10 non-conference contests. The Oles look to add to that record as they face Occidental College at 3 p.m. tomorrow.
