Oles capture regional championship behind Wintheiser, Brown

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The St. Olaf men's cross country team won the NCAA Division III Central Region Championship on its own course on Saturday behind second and third place finishes by Grant Wintheiser and Jake Brown.

Wintheiser finished the 8k race in 24:39.62, just over three seconds behind the overall winner, Josh Horton of Central College.

Brown crossed the finish line seconds seconds later to finish third overall. His time of 24:47.17 ranks fourth all-time in St. Olaf 8k history.

Brian Saksa finished sixth overall with a time of 25:06.17, improving to tenth all-time in the Oles' record book.

Jake Campbell took 18th in 25:36.42, while Calvin Lehn finished 22nd (25:38.82) to place all of the Oles' scorers in the meet's top 25.

St. Olaf finished with 51 points, leading all 26 teams in attendance. Central College was next best, 10 points above the Oles at 61.

The Oles compete next at the NCAA Division III Championships in Hanover, Ind. on November 23.
