Slow start dooms men's basketball

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - Augustana College (Ill.) held St. Olaf to five first half field goals in a 68-59 men's basketball win over the Oles on Saturday evening at UW-Platteville's Bo Ryan Court.
Connor Gunderson had a team-high 15 points for the Oles (1-1).
Augustana had five players in double figures, led by Ben Ryan's 15 and Danielus Jurgutis' 14. The Vikings (2-1) led 26-13 at the half and extended the advantage to 41-22 in the first five-plus minutes of the second frame.
The Oles clawed back within seven with 7:19 left on a Mason Braden bucket, but Augustana scored six of the next eight points put the game out of reach.
Each team had a productive second half. St. Olaf was 17-of-31 from the field and the Vikings 13-for-24. The Oles connected on only 2-of-8 three-point attempts however and were 13-for-22 from the line in the loss. Augstana was 21-of-27 from the charity stripe.
St. Olaf plays host UW-Platteville tomorrow at 3 p.m.
