Asp and Schmiesing to compete in National Bowl Game

MIAMI - St. Olaf seniors Stephen Asp and Jake Schmiesing will compete in the National Bowl Game in Miami on Sunday, December 8.
The National Bowl Game is an annual post-season college football all-star game consisting of top players from Non-FBS schools. The 4th Annual National Bowl Game will be played at Alfonso Field at FIU Stadium in Miami and will showcase All-American and All Conference seniors from around the nation that travel to the game from over 30 states representing over 400 Division II, III and FCS schools.
Asp had a team-high 49 receptions fro 751 yards and three touchdowns. His 49 receptions ranked seventh in the MIAC. He finished his career with 132 catches, which ranks sixth in school history. His 2,439 yards rank fourth all-time and his 24 career touchdowns are third-best. He was a first-team All-MIAC twice.
Schmiesing had nine receiving scores to finish in a tie for the school career record of 27, with Horace Gant '08, and one ahead of his brother Andrew '08. He had 35 receptions for 588 yards to complete his career with 111, which is ninth on the all-time list. Schmiesing's 1,655 yards rank seventh all-time.
Asp and Schmiesing will both play on the 'blue' team and are the only two players in the game representing the MIAC conference.
