Men's hockey falls to late Lake Forest rally

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The St. Olaf men's hockey team had leads of 1-0 and 3-1, but fell 4-3 to a third period rally by Lake Forest College in non conference action.

The Oles (3-9-3) took their momentum from last night's game into the first period by taking an early 1-0 lead on a goal from sophomore Peter Lindblad. The Foresters (6-8-1) tied the scored 1-1 to close out the first period.

St. Olaf regained the advantage to take a 3-1 lead with a goal in the second period from sophomore Nick Marsh and a goal to start the third period from senior Dan Cecka. Lake Forest scored two consecutive goals in the third period to tie the score 3-3. The Foresters retook the lead on an unassisted goal in the last five minutes of the game.

Ole goaltender Henrik Wood had 22 saves, while Foresters' goaltender Leo Podolsky collected 31. For the game, St. Olaf held a 34-26 shots advantage.

St. Olaf returns to MIAC action next weekend with a series against Hamline University. The first game is at home on Friday, January 17 at 7:30pm.
