COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. - The St. Olaf men's nordic ski team competed at the Minnesota College Championships on Saturday.

The St. Olaf men's relay team of Liam John, Nels Thompson, and Joel Bransky finished second in the 3 x 6 kilometer freestyle race, which featured both NCAA and club teams from around the state, including race winner and CCSA rival the College of St. Scholastica.

The three St. Olaf skiers battled with Gustavus II and St. Scholastica I, II, and III for most of the race before Bransky pulled away from all but CSS I on the final leg. Saints skier Jake Richards held off Bransky to win by about 5 seconds.

St. Olaf's third team of Sam Longenbach, Nate Webster, and Graham Glennon finished 14th in the 23-team field, while Kai Olstad and Leif Hanson partnered with a Gustavus skier to finish 15th. Nate Lafond skied both the first and third legs of the relay for St. Olaf's second team, with Paul Dau taking the middle leg to finish 17th.
