Women's basketball holds off Macalester

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Kim Cerjan had 18 points and Erin Riley 15 as St. Olaf held off Macalester College, 65-58, in a MIAC women's basketball game on Wednesday night at Skoglund Center.
Erin Murray had 14 points and six assists to pace Macalester (2-10, 1-8 MIAC).
St. Olaf (7-5, 5-4 MIAC) had a 10-point, nine-rebound effort from Elise Raney while Emily Wahlberg added six points and 10 boards.
The Oles led 9-0 and 22-12, but Macalester scored the last eight points in the first half to make it a two-point game at the break. The Scots took their only lead with five straight to open the second half but St. Olaf followed with a 7-0 run and never trailed again.
Riley connected on 5-of-6 field goals and both of her 3-point attempts.
After shooting a hair over 25 percent in the first half, the Oles made 12-of-24 in the second. Macalester did its part in the second half as well, making 13-of-29 including six three-pointers.
