Ole women ski at Telemark

CABLE, Wis. - Senior Paige Schember had two top-ten finishes to lead the St. Olaf women's Nordic team to a seventh place finish among Central Region college teams over a weekend of racing at Telemark Resort.
Schember began the weekend with a 7th place finish in the 10 kilometer mass start freestyle race on Saturday, posting a time of 31:23.0, about a minute behind race winner Alice Flanders of Michigan Tech.
Sophomore Nora Gilbertson, continuing to show improvement in freestyle races, finished as the Oles' second skier, 26th among college racers in a time of 33:58.1. Senior Kelsey Cork finished a strong 33rd, and Senior Gretchen Mueller finished 42nd.
Schember improved on Saturday's finish in Sunday's 5 kilometer individual start classic race, posting the 3rd fastest time among college skiers, 21.7 seconds behind race winner Mary Kate Cirelli. Schember's result was the first podium in a Central Region college race of her career.
Nora Gilbertson was again the Oles' second skier, finishing 25th, 1:28 behind Schember. Kelsey Cork finished 36th and Gretchen Mueller finished 47th.
The Oles' next competition is January 24-25, at Mt. Itasca in Coleraine, Minn.
