Ole men over Royals

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Connor Gunderson had 20 points as St. Olaf coasted to a 78-45 MIAC men's basketball win over Bethel University on Monday night at Skoglund Center.
Sterling Nielsen added 12 points and Charlie Aslesen 11 as the Oles (11-4, 8-2 MIAC) won their fourth straight and seventh of eight.
Bethel (9-6, 5-5 MIAC) was led by Aden Casey's 16 points.
St. Olaf raced to a 24-9 lead in the first 10 minutes. Bethel closed to within six with 1:30 left before a Gunderson 3-point play with five seconds left made it 34-25 at halftime.
The Oles shot 56.3 percent from the floor. It was the fourth straight and eighth (8-0) time this season the Oles made 50.0 percent or better and the fourth time St. Olaf limited its opponent to 50 points or less.
The Oles improved to 6-0 at home and pulled within a game of first place St. Thomas, which lost at Saint John's on Monday.
St. Olaf plays at Carleton College on Wednesday at 7:45 p.m.
