BLAINE, Minn. - Steven Sherman's goal with 5:32 left in regulation and Steve Papciak's 25-save shutout helped visiting St. Olaf defeat Bethel University 1-0 on Friday night in a MIAC men's hockey game.

Sherman's goal came on an assist from Jonas Fredricksson as the Oles (6-9-2, 4-3-2) won for the third straight time and improved to 3-1-2 in January.

Papciak had 11 saves in the first period, as St. Olaf killed two penalties inside the final five minutes of the opening frame. The Oles stayed penalty-free the rest of the night and Papciak made eight saves in the third to help St. Olaf escape with the 1-0 win.

The teams meet tomorrow night in Northfield in the series finale at 7:30 p.m.
