Volleyball wins opener over Luther

Andrea Otteman (Jr., Ames, Iowa) had 18 kills and 21 digs as the St. Olaf volleyball team defeated Luther College 30-12, 30-27, 27-30, 29-31 and 15-8 in the first round of the UW-LaCrosse Invite in LaCrosse, Wis. Friday.

St. Olaf, down 2-0 in game five, rallied for six straight to capture a lead they would not lose.

St. Olaf jumped to a 15-2 lead in game one on the heels of a 7-0 run to start the match. Rachel Pool (So., Bozeman, Mont.) had three aces in the stretch to open the game en route to a 30-12 game one win.

St. Olaf led 29-27 in game four, but Luther rallied to take the game 31-29. The Oles had nine service errors in that game.

The Oles were without Ashley Dennis (Jr., Billings, Mont./Skyview) for most of the match, after she left with an injury early in game two.

Danica Finseth (Sr., Chatfield, Minn.) and Christine Brook (Fy, Centennial, Colo./Cherry Creek) added 13 kills in the win.
