Gunderson hits 1,000 points as Oles win at Concordia

MOORHEAD, Minn. - Connor Gunderson scored his 1,000th career point as a part of a game-high 18 points as St. Olaf won its ninth straight with a 68-57 MIAC men's basketball win at Concordia-Moorhead on Wednesday night.
Sterling Nielsen added 12 points and Justin Pahl 10 for the Oles (16-4, 13-2 MIAC).
Brett Bergeson had 13 points off the bench to pace Concordia (10-11, 6-10 MIAC).
St. Olaf led by as many as nine in the first half and by six, 33-27, at the break. The Oles held a lead between five and 12 points the rest of the way, closing the game by making their last 10 free throw attempts inside the final 5:34.
Gunderson went 7-for-9 from the field and 3-for-4 from the line. He collected his 1,000th career point on a bucket in the opening minutes of the second half. He is the 18th player in the history of the program to reach 1,000 career points and the third in the last three seasons (Bobby Fong and Stuart Neville in 2012).
St. Olaf will travel to Saint John's University on Saturday for a 3 p.m. tip with the Johnnies, who have won six of their last seven.
