Oles, Anderson defeat Cobbers in OT

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The St. Olaf men's hockey team defeated the Concordia Cobbers 5-4 in overtime. Sophomore Andrew Anderson's goal halfway through overtime sealed the win for the Oles.

In a tightly contested game, Oles continued to take the lead, only to have the Cobbers return to tie the score within a few minutes. St. Olaf led 2-1 after the first period on goals from sophomores David Rath and Peter Lindblad.

Concordia tied the score 1:31 into the 2nd period, which started a flurry of three goals in the first four minutes of the period, leaving the score 3-3 after two periods.

For the game, the Oles outshot the Cobbers 36-35. Steve Papciak had 31 saves for St.Olaf. The win is the seventh consecutive for the Oles (10-9-3, 8-3-2) and further solidifies their third place position in the MIAC.

The Oles play Concordia on Saturday, February 8 at home at 2:30pm.
