Men's hockey continues streak with shootout win over Cobbers

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The St. Olaf men's hockey team added to their winning streak with a 3-2 shootout win over Concordia College on Saturday at Northfield Ice Arena.
The win is the Oles' eighth consecutive and keeps them in third place in the MIAC with one series to play.
St. Olaf (11-9-3, 9-3-2 MIAC) opened the scoring at 5:15 of the first period from senior Dan Cecka. The Cobbers tied shortly afterward at the 9:51 mark of the period.
After a scoreless second period, Oles and Cobbers traded goals in the last two minutes of the period. The Cobbers skated ahead at 18:04 on a goal from Chris Beede. The Oles pulled their goalie and sophomore Peter Lindblad netted the equalizer with 55 seconds remaining.
St. Olaf first year Steve Sherman scored the only goal in the shootout for either team. Junior goalie Steve Papciak had 23 saves as the Oles outshot the Cobbers 41-25. St. Olaf has next weekend off, then completes the regular season with a series against Augsburg College, beginning on Friday, Feb. 21 at Augsburg at 7:05 p.m.
