Ole men win 10th straight with road victory at SJU

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. - Sterling Nielsen had 23 points and Connor Gunderson 18 and 11 rebounds as St. Olaf pulled away to beat Saint John's University 72-61 on Saturday afternoon at Sexton Arena.

Blake Maslonkowski had 14 and Mitchell Kuck 12 points for the Johnnies.

The teams traded 12 leads as the game was knotted at 41-41 with 12:07 left. Minutes later, St. Olaf used back-to-back three-pointers from Nielsen and Gunderson to open a seven-point advantage.

St. Olaf made 24-of-27 from the line, including 14-of-15 inside the final 3:21.

Justin Pahl chipped in 12 points and Nathan Kuck nine off the bench for the Oles.

The win is the 10th straight for St. Olaf (17-4, 14-2 MIAC), who stayed within a game of St. Thomas for the top of the league standings. The Tommies and Oles meet on Wednesday at Skoglund Center.
