Women's swimming and diving stays in third after second day at MIAC's

MINNEAPOLIS - The St. Olaf women's swimming and diving team held on to third place on Friday after completion of the second of three days at the MIAC Championships at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.
The Oles finished the night with a win in the 800 Free Relay in a meet record 7:37.51, which met the NCAA qualifying standard from 2013. The team of Caroyln Bernhardt, Sarah Kemp, Abbey Schnaith and Maddie Lee held off runner up Gustavus in the event by three-plus seconds.
Lee won the 200 Free with a NCAA B cut time of 1:51.64, while teammate Kemp was fourth in the event. Laura Begin finished second in the consolation final, 10th overall.
Carolyn Bernhardt was runner up in the 100 Back in a NCAA B cut time of 57.22. Schnaith was fifth in 58.62, while first year Hannah Hein was 11th overall and Rebecca Barry 14th.
Lindsey Lee was sixth and Megan Gaylord seventh in the 100 Breast. Maggie Boling was 10th, finishing second in the consolation heat.
The Oles' 200 Medley Relay team -- of Bernhardt, Gaylord, Schnaith and Marla Thomforde -- opened the night with a third place effort in 1:47.35.
