Women's hockey prevails in overtime

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - After being shut out by St. Catherine University 4-0 on Friday evening, the St. Olaf women's hockey team followed up with a 2-1 overtime victory on Saturday afternoon at the Northfield Ice Arena.

After a scoreless first period, the Oles got on the board first with a Katie Moeller goal at the 13:48 mark in the second period. St. Catherine came back with a goal of their own from Annie Buttermore with 8:46 remaining in the game. Neither team could score in those last eight minutes however, and the game went to overtime where Sara Lind scored her third goal of the season to clinch the win for St. Olaf.

St. Olaf (6-16-1, 6-9-1 MIAC) outshot the Wildcats (11-10-1, 8-7-1 MIAC) 36-32, including a 5-1 advantage in the extra period.

The Oles will play their final series of the season next Friday and Saturday against Augsburg. Friday's game will take place at the Northfield Ice Arena and will begin at 7:30 p.m.
