Women's track and field compete at Meet of Hearts

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - St. Olaf women's track and field team competed in the Meet of Hearts at Carleton College on Saturday.

The Oles had three first place finishes as they competed against Luther, Carleton, Gustavus, and Augsburg. Dani Larson crossed the line of the 400 meter dash in 59.35, over a full second ahead of the next finisher. Morghen Philippi edged out Carleton's Winona Rachel in the final stretch of the 1000 meter, finishing in 3:11.11, Rachel half a second behind.

Senior Moriah Novacinski led in the mile and ended the race six seconds ahead of the rest of the field. The Oles took the top three places in the event with Megan Holmes in second (5:21.68)and Meggie Exner third (2:24.68).

The Ole's Distance Medley Relay (DMR) finished first with a total time of 12:42.59. Team members consisted of Novacinski, Shaina Rud, Holmes, and Exner. The relay led the race from the gun, with Exner battling to the finish with Augsburg's Lauren Rice in the final leg. Augsburg finished with a time of 12:43.97.

St. Olaf women's track and field team next competes on Saturday at the University of Minnesota for the Parent's Day Open.
