Auggies upend Ole men in series opener

MINNEAPOLIS - Augsburg overcame a 2-1 third period deficit to defeat St. Olaf 3-2 in a MIAC men's hockey game on Friday night.
Erik Ordahl scored the game-winner with 12:26 left in regulation and John Bretzman made 28 saves to preserve the win for Augsburg, which stayed alive in the hunt for a MIAC playoff berth.
Niklas Almstrom had two goals, including the game-tying score at the 2:19 mark of the third period, to lead the Auggies.
Each of the Oles' goals were on the power play. Steven Sherman tied the game at 1-1 with his score at 6:17 of the first. Peter Lindblad scored on a feed from Sherman at 9:27 of the second to give St. Olaf a 2-1 lead.
The teams meet at Northfield Ice Arena on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Augsburg needs a win to make the post season. St. Olaf has clinched a spot in the five-team playoff.
