Ole women fall in regular season finale

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - St. Olaf senior Elise Raney was two blocks from a triple-double with 19 points, 11 rebounds and eight blocks, but Bethel University outlasted the visiting Oles 62-55 in a MIAC women's basketball game on Saturday afternoon.
Rachel Parupsky and Lexi Friesen had 16 points each to lead Bethel (19-6, 17-5 MIAC).
Raney was 6-for-13 from the field and 7-of-10 from the line.
St. Olaf (14-11, 12-10 MIAC) overcame an early nine-point deficit and led by as many as three in the second half. Bethel used an 8-0 run midway through the second half to all but secure the win.
The Royals were 24-for-36 from the free throw line, while St. Olaf was 12-of-17 in an otherwise even game. St. Olaf outrebounded Bethel 48-45, had one more field goal, made seven three's to the Royals' four, but committed three more turnovers.
Kim Cerjan added 12 points and Afton Wolter eight for the Oles in the loss. Kalli Zimmerman had a dozen in the victory for Bethel.
The teams will meet again on Tuesday in Arden Hills in the first round of the MIAC playoffs. The schools split the season series. The playoff appearance is the second in the last three seasons for the Oles.
