Men's hockey advances with 5-3 win over Cobbers

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - St. Olaf defeated Concordia-Moorhead 5-3 in the quarterfinal round of the MIAC playoffs on Friday night at Northfield Ice Arena.

Steve Papciak made 37 saves in the win for St. Olaf, which will meet top-seeded St. Thomas tomorrow night in Mendota Heights.

Dan Cecka and Mark Rath had a goal and an assist each as the Oles (11-10-4) raced to a 4-1 lead and held off the Cobbers (12-9-5). Concordia closed the gap to one with Andrew Deters' score with 16:17 left in regulation. St. Olaf responded with a Tim Tuscher goal three-plus minutes later to make it 5-3.

Peter Lindblad and Nick Marsh also scored for the Oles, who have gone 9-1-1 in their last 11 outings.
