Wintheiser sets another new record

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Grant Wintheiser broke his own record in the 3,000m event at the Ole Qualifier as the St. Olaf Men's Track and Field team competed on Friday night in the Tostrud Fieldhouse.
Wintheiser crossed the line in 8:17.13, ten seconds ahead of the rest of the field. Wintheiser had set the previous school record at the Tommie Classic on Feb. 14 (8:23.73). His finishing time currently ranks him second nationally in the event. Wintheiser also holds a national top ten best time in the mile after running a 4:11.98 last weekend in the Tostrud Classic.
Jacob Eggers broke two minutes in the 800m (1:57.85), finishing second behind Saint Joihn's Thomas Feichtinger. Paul Escher won the mile with a finishing time of 4:17.24. In the field events, Ethan Lunning threw 14.06m in the shot put, earning him a second place finish.
The Ole Qualifer was St. Olaf's final competition before the MIAC Indoor Championships which take place March 7-8 at Saint John's University.
