INDIANAPOLIS - The St. Olaf men's swimming and diving team opened the first day at the NCAA Division III Championships with a fourth place finish in the 200 Medley Relay, to go with a pair of other scoring swims, on Wednesday at IU Natatorium.

The Oles' relay team of Michael Gratz, Colby Kubat, Billy Brebrick and Tanner Roe finished with a time of 1:29.98, which was .24 seconds behind third place Kenyon and .31 seconds behind second place MIT. The time ranks as the second-best in school history.

Gratz and Roe each added scoring swims earlier in the session, finishing 10th and 14th in the 200 Individual Medley.

St. Olaf is seventh as a team through the first day at the event. Last season St. Olaf was 11th at the NCAA's, its best mark since finishing fourth in 2009.
