Baseball wins twice to open up Florida schedule

AUBURNDALE, Fla. - St. Olaf won a pair of non-conference baseball games to open up its 10-game set in Flordia, defeating Fontbonne 11-4 and Springfield 17-7 on Friday afternoon.

Sam Maus went 3-for-5 while Chris Paradise and Dylan Porter were each 3-for-4 as the Oles pounded out 14 hits in the 11-4 victory.
Ryan Tapani picked up his first win with a seven-inning effort. Tapani scattered seven hits while striking out eight and walking one in the win.
St. Olaf struck for three in the third inning and added two straight four-run rallies in the fourth and fifth. Jack Schechinger and Tim Maus each added two hits and two RBI in the win.
St. Olaf 17, Springfield 7
Maus was 2-for-2 with a three-run homer and two walks as the Oles won their fourth in a row with the 17-7 win. Nick Denn went 3-for-3 and Tapani 2-for-5 with three RBI as the Oles put six runs on the board in the second inning and never trailed.
Nate Gelle earned the win for the Oles. He went six innings, giving up five earned runs on nine hits and a walk.
Nick Kulla and Schechinger added two hits apiece.
