Mathison gem gives Oles 2-0 win, split against No. 11 Whitewater

AUBURNDALE, Fla. - Jake Mathison tossed a four-hit shutout in a 2-0 game two win as St. Olaf split a baseball doubleheader with 11th-ranked UW-Whitewater on Wednesday at Chain of Lakes Stadium. UW-Whitewater won the opener 7-1.

Game One: No. 11 UW-Whitewater 7, St. Olaf 1
Mikole Pierce went 3-for-4 while three other Warhawks went 2-for-3 as UW-Whitewater won the opener 7-1. St. Olaf managed only three hits against Curtis Morgan, who struck out five in the complete game win.

Mathison drove in the Oles' only run on a two-out single in the seventh.

Game Two: St. Olaf 2, UW-Whitewater 0
Mathison struck out three, walked three and pitched his way to the team's first shutout of 2014. He worked his way out of jams in each of the first two innings, stranding two Warhawk runners in each frame.

Sam Maus doubled and scored on a Nick Kulla single in the first inning. Maus scored again in the third after he walked and scored on a Jack Schechinger double.
