Baseball splits at Carleton

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - St. Olaf and Carleton split a MIAC baseball doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon with the host Knights winning the opener 11-6 before the Oles won a 13-8 decision in game two.
Game One: Carleton 11, St. Olaf 6
Carleton broke a 5-5 tie in the bottom of the sixth with a six-run rally to spark an 11-6 win in the opener.
Kevin Johnson went 4-for-4 with five RBIs and Hayden Tsutsui 3-for-4 with four RBIs for Carleton in the win. Tsutsui had a two-run single in the sixth and Johnson a two-run double.
Sam Maus homered as a part of a 2-for-4 effort. He led off the game with a solo shot and had a run-scoring single in the second inning. Jake Mathison also had two hits in the loss. The Oles had a two-out, two-run single from Dylan Porter to tie the game in the sixth.
Game Two: St. Olaf 13, Carleton 8
Four Oles had multi-hit efforts and Chris Paradise drove in three as St. Olaf (12-8, 3-1 MIAC) saved a split with a 13-8 win in game two.
Nate Gelle scattered 12 hits over seven innings to get the win. Gelle struck out five and walked none for his third (3-1) win of the spring.
Tsutsui was 3-for-5 while Ray Yong hit a two-run homer for Carleton (9-5, 3-1 MIAC) in the loss.
