Maus, Tapani lead Oles to sweep of Scots

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Tim Maus had a walk-off single in game one and pitched 6 2/3 innings in game two, while Ryan Tapani pitched all 10 innings in game one as St. Olaf swept Macalester College 4-3 and 4-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Game One: St. Olaf 4, Macalester 3 (10 inn.)
Tapani threw a 10-inning complete game, allowing six hits while striking out eight in the game one victory. Maus finished the game 3-for-5 with two RBIs.

The Oles loaded the bases in the ninth inning, but Macalester reliever Joseph Aulisi struck out Tapani with two outs to end the threat. Aulisi worked 5 1/3 innings, allowing a run on four hits.

Nick Kulla went 2-for-5 for the Oles. Ross Bronfenbrenner was 3-for-5 with two runs for the Scots in the loss.

Game Two: St. Olaf 4, Macalester 1
Maus was an out away from a complete game, but Macalester loaded the bases and St. Olaf used Joey Voss to close the door on a 4-1 win and MIAC sweep of the Scots.

Chris Paradise was 2-for-4 and Jack Schechinger 2-for-3 in the win.

Nick Sia was 2-for-3 for Macalester.

St. Olaf will play at Saint John's University tomorrow at 1 p.m.
