No. 13 St. Thomas holds off Oles 4-3 on each end of doubleheader

ST. PAUL, Minn. - No. 13 St. Thomas defeated St. Olaf 4-3 in each game of a MIAC baseball doubleheader on Friday at Koch Diamond.

Game One: St. Thomas 4, St. Olaf 3
St. Olaf scored three unearned runs in the fifth inning to tie the game at 3-3, but UST got a RBI single from Logan Borg in the bottom of the frame and the Tommies held on for the 4-3 victory.

St. Olaf had only two hits in the loss. Chris Paradise singled and scored in the fifth while Jake Mathison had a base hit earlier in the inning.

Jack Hogan had a two-run single for UST in the third inning.

Game Two: St. Thomas 4, St. Olaf 3
Ben Podobinski went 3-for-5 and Tim Kuzniar 2-for-3 with a run and RBI as St. Thomas held a 4-0 lead on the way to the 4-3 victory and sweep.

St. Olaf scored three times in the sixth inning on a bases clearing double by Tim Maus. The Tommies then spelled starter Eric Veglahn with Jacob Nelson, who retired the next three St. Olaf hitters.

Maus and Chris Paradise were each 2-for-4 for the Oles (17-11, 8-4 MIAC) in the loss.
