Auggies sweep Oles

MINNEAPOLIS - Augsburg College swept St. Olaf with 5-1 victories in each game of a MIAC baseball doubleheader on Saturday at Parade Stadium.

Game One: Augsburg 5, St. Olaf 1
Augsburg's Tyler Flankne worked six innings, allowing no earned runs and three hits in the game one win. Gordon Kappers was 2-for-3 with two RBI as one of three Auggies with two hits.

The Oles took a 1-0 lead on an error in the fifth inning, but Augsburg touched St. Olaf starter Ryan Tapani for three runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth inning.

Game Two: Augsburg 5, St. Olaf 1
The Oles' Sam Maus was 3-for-4, but Augsburg scored four unanswered to complete the sweep.

Abe Welckle was 3-for-4 with two doubles while three other Auggies had two hits.

St. Olaf tied the game in the fourth inning on a RBI double by Jack Schechinger. But the Auggies responded with a run in the fifth and a three-run double by Rhett Hebig gave Augsburg the 5-1 lead.
