Softball sweeps Mac

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Becca Walz' had a walk-off single in game one and St. Olaf completed the sweep with a 9-7 win in game two in a MIAC softball doubleheader with Macalester College on Tuesday at Mabel Shirley Field.

Game One: St. Olaf 7, Macalester 6
Walz heroics were set up by singles by Afton Wolter and Woo Bandel to start the seventh. Macalester trailed 6-4 into the final inning before tying the game on four hits in the top of the inning.

Walz finished 3-for-4 while Stephanie Borndale was 2-for-3 with a run and three RBIs.

Saraswati Wilson and Miranda Stokes were each 3-for-4 for the Scots, who had 14 hits as a team, in the loss.

Game Two: St. Olaf 9, Macalester 7
Borndale was 3-for-3, Walz 3-for-4 and Jenna Boudreau hit a grand slam as the Oles scored six times in the bottom of the fifth to spark the 9-7 win and sweep.

Wilson, Stokes and Abby Cox had two hits each for the Scots (15-15, 5-9 MIAC).

The Oles (7-21, 7-11 MIAC) trailed 6-2 into the bottom of the fourth before scoring seven unanswered.
