Volleyball opens with five-game win over Loras

St. Olaf erased a 2-0 deficit behind 21 kills from Andrea Otteman (Jr., Ames, Iowa) and defeated Loras College 28-30, 29-31, 30-23, 30-13 and 15-13 on Friday in the first round of the Border Battle in St. Peter, Minn.

Otteman added 11 digs and Danica Finseth (Sr., Chosen Valley, Minn.) hit .317 with 20 kills in the win for the Oles.

St. Olaf (10-5, 4-2 MIAC) has won four straight.

Katie Sievers (Jr., Miles, Iowa) had a team-high 13 kills and 11 digs in the loss for Loras (5-12, 0-4 IIAC).

St. Olaf led game one 26-23, but the Duhawks scored six of the next seven and eventually won the opening game.

Audrey Volstad (Jr., Hanley Falls, Minn.) nearly had a triple-double, collecting 64 set assists, nine kills and nine digs.

Ashley Dennis (Jr., Billings, Mont.) had 15 digs to lead the St. Olaf defense. Dennis has led the Oles in digs the last three matches.
