Volleyball out of playoffs with three-game loss to UST

St. Olaf jumped to a 18-11 lead in game one, but the University of St. Thomas battled to a 30-28, 30-20 and 30-26 win over the Oles in the MIAC Tournament semifinals on Thursday in St. Paul.

Danica Finseth (Sr., Chatfield, Minn.) led St. Olaf with 12 kills in the loss.

The Oles led game three 22-20.

Rachel Dosch had a match-best 19 kills to lead the Toms, who hit .298 in the win. St. Olaf hit .133.

Jessica Levin (Fy, Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Xavier) added 10 kills for St. Olaf.

Erica Wetzel had 13 and Kristin Storrs 12 kills as the top-seeded Tommies advanced to the MIAC Championship for the second time in the five-year history of the event. They will host Saint Ben's in the championship on Saturday.

St. Olaf closed their season at 14-12 overall. The Oles fifth place finish was their best since finishing second in 2002.
