Volleyball holds off Waldorf to gain split in first day of Invite

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The St. Olaf volleyball team fended off Waldorf College in five games to finish 1-1 in the first day of the St. Olaf Invitational on Friday.

The Oles (3-3) coasted to a 30-17 win in game one, but the Warriors (6-6) had two-point wins in games two and four to force the fifth game.

Audrey Volstad served six straight to give St. Olaf a 7-3 lead in the deciding game.

Andrea Otteman's 16 kills led the Oles in the win.

The Warriors' Brittney Johnson had 10 kills.

UW-LaCrosse downed St. Olaf in three games in the opener. Nina Walch had 16 kills and hit .480 in the 30-20, 30-16 and 30-20 Eagles' win.

Alyssa Williams had 12 digs and Otteman 10 kills in the loss for St. Olaf.

St. Olaf plays UW-River Falls at 10 a.m. and UW-Whitewater at 4 p.m. tomorrow.
