Volleyball drops pair in final day of Invite

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - UW-River Falls and defending national champion UW-Whitewater defeated St. Olaf in the final two rounds of the St. Olaf Volleyball Invitational at Skoglund Center on Saturday.

No. 7 Whitewater needed just three games to down the Oles (3-5, 0-0 MIAC), who open MIAC play on Wednesday at Macalester.

Andrea Otteman had match-best 12 kills for St. Olaf in the loss.

Otteman had 16 digs, 20 kills and hit .400 in the first game of the day, a four-game loss to UW-River Falls. Each of the first three games were decided by two, including St. Olaf's 30-28 win in game two of the match.

Audrey Volstad added 43 set assists and Alyssa Williams 16 digs. Volstad was the Oles' lone representative on the All-Tournament team.

Kate Thompson had 17 kills for the Falcons.
