Volleyball rallies for win over Scots in MIAC opener

ST. PAUL - St. Olaf rallied from a 5-1 deficit to claim a 17-15 decision in the deciding fifth game to defeat Macalester College in the MIAC volleyball opener for each school on Wednesday.

After falling behind 5-1, the Oles (1-0 MIAC, 4-5) scored nine of the next ten points to regain control.

Andrea Otteman had 17 kills and 17 digs to lead St. Olaf. Paige Olson added 15 kills, hitting .519, in the win.

Sonia Muzikarova had 19 kills for Macalester (0-1 MIAC, 5-4).

St. Olaf hosts Bethany Lutheran in a non-conference match at 3 p.m. on Saturday. The Oles return to MIAC action on Wednesday in a home meeting with Hamline.
