Pipers pounce on volleyball in four

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Andrea Otteman hit .302 with 20 kills, but Hamline University defeated the St. Olaf volleyball team 31-29, 26-30, 30-19 and 30-28 on Wednesday at Skoglund Center.

Shelby Hyllengren had 23 and Dana Luiken 14 kills to lead Hamline to their second straight win over St. Olaf.

The two-game winning streak in the series is the first for the Pipers since 1992. Hamline beat St. Olaf in five games last season in St. Paul.

Hamline had a 17-8 lead in game four, but St. Olaf went on a 20-10 run. The Pipers, however, scored the next two points to seal the conference win.

Janet Sully and Alyssa Williams had 14 digs each and Audrey Volstad added 49 set assists for St. Olaf in the loss.

The Pipers' Jenny Nichols had 54 set assists.

St. Olaf travels to St. Paul on Friday for an MIAC test with sixth-ranked St. Thomas.
