Men's Cross Country
- The St. Olaf men's cross country team was idle this week... The Oles compete at the Jim Drews Invitational on Saturday in La Crosse, Wis.
Women's Cross Country
- Jenna Carlson was fifth and Annie Knutson sixth as the St. Olaf women's cross country team was third of 13 teams at Wartburg's Dan Huston Invitational in the first event at the school's Max Cross Country Course... Carlson finished in 22:52, three seconds ahead of Knutson... Each of the Oles' top seven runners finished 41st or better in the 169-runner field. Michaela McLauglin was 25th, Abby Smith 28th and Nellie Adams 31st.
- The Oles, ranked 33rd in the latest USTFCCA poll, were 15 places behind second place and fifth-ranked UW-LaCrosse. Third-ranked Wartburg won the event.
- St. Olaf competes at the Tori Neubauer Invitational on Saturday in La Crosse, Wis.
Football
- St. Olaf (3-3, 1-3 MIAC) lost a 31-7 league game at Bethel University on Saturday... The Oles three-game skid is the first since 2003 when the team lost four straight.
- Antonio Jennings was one of the Oles' bright spots in the loss... Jennings had a career-best seven receptions for 69 yards.
- St. Olaf plays is off this week before an Oct. 25 home game with Saint John's University.
Men's Soccer
- The St. Olaf men's soccer (8-5-0, 3-3-0 MIAC) lost its only MIAC game this week - a 3-2 road game at Bethel on Wednesday - but rebounded with a pair of non-conference wins in California this weekend.
- St. Olaf scored a pair of late goals - from Sam Harrington and Logan Rathjen - in Saturday's win at Chapman University... The loss was Chapman's, ranked fifth in the latest West Region rankings, second at home this year and spoiled thoughts of CU's fifth shutout in six outings.
- John Zietlow scored the Oles' goal in Sunday's win over Pomona-Pitzer... Zietlow, the MIAC's leader in almost every offensive category and last week's Player of the Week, had gone pointless in four of the team's previous five games.
- St. Olaf is off until a Saturday home league match with Gustavus Adolphus College.
Women's Soccer
- The St. Olaf women's soccer team (7-6-1, 4-2-1 MIAC) defeated Bethel 2-1 on Tuesday before dropping a pair of one-goal games in California over the Weekend.
- Tuesday's win over Bethel was helped by Allyson Connor's game-winner in the 78th minute, just 1:05 after BU had tied the game... The victory was the Oles' third straight league win.
- St. Olaf traded goals with Chapman, but lost a 3-2 decision on Saturday... Lindsay Howard scored the Oles' second goal to take the team lead with seven.
- The Oles are off until Oct. 22 when they travel to Gustavus.
Volleyball
- The St. Olaf volleyball team won all five matches, a Wednesady MIAC match against SMU and all four games in the IIAC-MIAC border Battle, this week to move to 17-9 overall (3-3 MIAC).
- St. Olaf co-head coach Traci Cook earned her 100th career win with the team's victory over Buena Vista University on Saturday... Cook, who led the Oles' to an MIAC Tournament championship in her first year, is 101-97 in her six-plus seasons at St. Olaf.
- Jess Levin was the MIAC's Co-Hitter of the week after she was named to her fourth all-tournametn team of the year this weeknd... Levin had a career-best 24 kills against Cornell and averaged 13.8 kills/match in the Oles' wins over Cornell, Dubuque, BVU and Luther... Levin is hitting .292 this year, good for fourth in the league and over .050 points higher than what she hit in 2007 (.242) and nearly double what she hit in 2006 (.150).
- St. Olaf setter Kelly Prunty, the MIAC's Co-Setter of the Week, went over 1,000 assists for the season over the weekend... Prunty is second in the MIAC in assists/game with 10.22 and needs 13 to reach 2,000 for her career.
- St. Olaf plays at Augsburg on Wednesday in its only game of the week.
