Maya Hamilton Etten joins the St. Olaf coaching staff with five years of coaching experience at the college and high school levels. She was most recently the head coach of the Breck High School girls swim team (where she also taught U.S. and Modern World History) and led the team to two consecutive 2nd-place finishes in the state.
Etten swam middle-distance and distance-freestyle and backstroke for Yale University and her hometown STAR Swim Team in St. Paul. Etten has competed on the local and national levels in swimming as well as in road cycling, triathlon, and the martial art tae kwon do. She is currently a black belt in tae kwon do and also practices the martial arts of muy thai (Thailand) and kali (Philippines).
Etten lives in Minneapolis with her husband Matt.
