Maya Hamilton is in her fifth year as assistant coach for the men's and women's swimming team. Before joining the St. Olaf coaching staff, she had five years of coaching experience at the college and high school levels, most recently as the head coach of the Breck High School girls swim team (where she also taught U.S. and Modern World History).

Hamilton swam middle-distance and distance-freestyle and backstroke for Yale University and her hometown STAR Swim Team in St. Paul. Hamilton has competed on the local and national levels in swimming as well as in road cycling, triathlon, and the martial arts Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Tae Kwon Do. Hamilton teaches self-defense at St. Olaf, and she is currently a teaching and research assistant at the University of Minnesota while getting her Ph.D in Sport and Exercise Psychology.

Hamilton lives in Minneapolis.
